About me

I am from Taiwan, a country of 23 million people. I graduated from Hsinchu Senior High School in 2002 and obtained my Sci. Bachelor/Master Degree (in Physics) at National Central University (NCU) in 2009/2011. My research interests in astrophysics/chemistry were inspired by Prof. dr. Tai-Sone Yih and Prof. dr. Yu-Jung Chen when I started my research project in the Atomic and Molecular Spectroscopy Laboratory (current: Photoprocessing & Spectroscopy Laboratory) at the NCU. After finishing my compulsory service in the Taiwan military as a second lieutenant, I worked as a research assistant at the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA).

At the end of 2013, I joined the Laboratory for Astrophysics (LfA) at Leiden University, the Netherlands, as a guest researcher and started my Ph.D. research on investigating the interstellar origin of simple and complex organics in 2014, supervised by Prof. dr. Harold Linnartz and Prof. dr. Ewine van Dishoeck. I defended my thesis and obtained a doctoral degree in 2018. After that, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Max-Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA)/ Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (FSU-Jena). The research focuses on the interface chemistry between interstellar ice and dust and is continued through the DFG-MOST-funded program.

In Dec. 2020, I started a new position at Leiden Observatory as an assistant professor and obtained a permanent position starting in 2022. My research aims to understand the physicochemical evolution of interstellar dust and ice under non-energetic(thermal) /energetic(non-thermal) processing, facilitating the extraterrestrial origin of important organic molecules on early planets.
